Dear ZW,
I was lucky enough to have seen your website before you were forced to
dismantle it. It was wonderful and it gave me a better idea of whom I was
addressing. I felt closer to you for having opened up your life, in a
photographic way, to me. I hope there were many others who had the chance to
get to know you a bit better. It reduces the ignorance of attacks on you and
your family if flamers have a chance to put a face on their targets. It's
sad that you were forced to take it down. Another case of the few destroying
the freedom of the whole.
Of course, you and I do not agree on everything we believe, but we have
shared a common respect for each other for a long time. It would be great if
people didn't leap to antagonism as soon as they detected a single issue on
which they might not agree. I just want to tell you that I feel I know you
better than most of the other members of ASC-P, and I know we're very
different on our views, but we managed to overcome that difficulty in favor
of respecting each others differences and not throwing the whole
relationship over a few issues. In the end we both believe in the fairness
of democracy and the importance of a free press as well as support for the
1st Amendment. That has sealed our friendship and I hope others experience
the similar benefits of this and other groups.
