Dear Marshall,
MRI's are great for looking at things like blown disks and cracked vertebra,
but they aren't worth a damn for neurological problems like pinched nerves.
They can guess at nerve impingements from the way things are positioned, but
it really sounds like you should have some further testing done. I'm
specifically thinking of an EMG, which is a nasty little test, but it will
show problems with nerve conduction. From what you are saying about the pain
and numbness you're having, the discomfort of an EMG will barely be noticed.
And there are no confined spaces involved.
I hope you have a lawyer dealing with the insurance company of the driver
that hit you. If you don't, you should consult one right away and see what
can be done. It may be too late, but it would be worth it for you to find
out if it's not.
The apnea may even be related to the accident I had a friend that developed
it, as well as TMJ, from a car accident, so it's possible.
