Re: Duragesic Patch Question

X-No-Archive: yes

Mike,

I have been using the Duragesic patch for my long acting med for almost
five years. I'm one of the fortunate people who isn't bothered by the
adhesive. However, like everyone has said, the patches are not for
break through pain. They can take up to 12 hours to get a steady flow
of fentanyl, the medicine inside the patches, into your system. I use
Oxycodone for my break through med. You might have your doctor visit
the Duragesic website at http:/www.duragesic.com to find out the proper
way to use this medication. It will not help you as a break through
med at all. You need something that is instant release for break
through pain.
Hope your doctor gets a better understanding of how Duragesic is to be
used.
