While we are not all Beauty Show contestants, the large majority of us
do look fine. Matter of fact some of us look damn fine. :)

That is just one of the downside aspects of pain as a medical
condition. Sort of like being crazy. But gee, you look so healthy
what do you mean you are on 47 different drugs?

There is also no real scientific way to measure it either, but most of
us have our own little measuring devices. For me it is increased
blood pressure & sometimes pulse.

Throw in the fakers, malingerers, insurance frauds and drug seekers
and we sometimes really get lost in the shuffle. Some feedback I was
getting from other people (some of whom are MD's) actually led me to
begin to believe that I might be a hypochondriac.

Is it real pain or is it just all in my head became a serious question
I was asking myself. After all test after test was negative for this,
that and the other thing. Then all of a sudden BAM some scientific
proof that I did indeed have a physical aliment(s) that was causing
the symptoms and I fortunately found a Dr who was willing to
aggressively treat the symptomatic issues even though he had no cure
to offer which I would have preferred and had searched for ever so
diligently for decades. At least I continue to be a productive member
of society and do enjoy some of life's finer moments I still sure
would like a cure and be able to put away the pills.

I hope someone can give you an answer. Sounds to me like your
situation is similar to mine and you just need to have the symptom
(pain) of whatever ails you more aggressively treated then is
currently happening.
