I just want to say thank you SJ for the thread on the food. It is so nice
to hear everyone's recipes and suggestions. It is still too nice here for
me to think slow cooker and the fish is still fresh so am taking advantage
of it. Had a lovely sockeye salmon steak barbecued on my little deck with
my last 2 prawns, my eggplant mixture that I did yesterday and some fresh
cucumber/tomatoe/olive oil dressing. Was a great dinner.

I am trying to desperately lose some more weight. I have been losing an
average of a pound a month for the last 2 years but need to keep going.
My cholestrol is up a little, triglycerides a little but the ecg they took
2 weeks ago says I have had a "heart episode" sometime in the past few
years. Can't pinpoint or couldn't tell me. She asked about heart pain and
I laughed. Between the acid reflux (even with meds) and the rib
inflammation if I move wrong I am not sure if I could tell. My reaction
is if it goes away with extra prednisone it is okay. Heat helps - then it
is okay. Anyhow now they are scheduling me with a chemical stress test so
guess we will see. The major concern for me is not taking the statins
unless I need them absolutely so I have upped my salmon oil to 6 capsules
a day. That took mom's down (with massive exercise granted) to a good
level. I just don't have much more dietary things i can change. The
major thing I guess would be to do what i am doing - more fibre, more
fruit, more veggies, and more olive oil. The weight would help as well
and I am working at that. The problem is it is all in my stomache due to
the prednisone. Anyhow trying.

They also want me back to talk about my pap smear so hopefully that isn't
bad. Next rituxan is next Wednesday, have an eye appointment with the
opthamologist in the next few weeks and an appointment with the orthopedic
surgeon to talk about my knee. The x-rays are inconclusive so probably
the next stage is mri to see if it is a torn meniscus or something. That
isn't until November so that is okay.

I am settled into my tiny place and love Steveston. Because it is flat
and the village is nearby I find myself using my scooter a lot more. The
apartment is also very tiny so not walking as much inside which is helping
my body a little more. Am going to try to get to the pool a couple of
times a week once the rituxan stuff is settled down.

Cool thing - the 2 people I have just finished rituxan with went 12 - 14
months. Both said they should ideally have been in at 10 - 12 months but
even so.... Wow. All I can say.

Anyhow off to bed - it is due to be nice again this weekend so hopefully I
can do a little container gardening and some sewing this weekend. Trying
to get a couple of quilts quilted and ready to bind while I am in the
rituxan chair.

Will respond to a couple of emails tomorrow.

Kelly
