If you're headed to the doctor, besides an insurance card...you should
now be ready to also show some identification.
New Utah legislation passed in this year's session requires patients to
show identification before receiving treatment.
Terri Draper, a spokesperson for Intermountain Health Care says they
have been concerned about patient identity, as a safety issue for their
patients for the past couple of years.
Draper says there have been cases across the nation where patients are
victims of identity theft, and when it comes to identity theft and
medical care, the problems caused can be more than just financial.
Medical records can be filled with wrong information that can cause
problems with future treatment.
If you do suspect that your identity has been misused, you can contact
