Yikes Gwen! Glad you can back from it.
Why can't I ever have the weight loss side effect...whine, whine....I've gained over 50 pounds due to the Prednisone...I could live with losing 37 pounds! ;-) I'm glad you got it back though. I agree about the drastic weight loss and looking older! I saw a pic of me when I was way down and boy did I look older than I actually was! A little weight is a good thing!
Glad you're okay,

I can't take Cipro or anything in that family of drugs. My kidneys shut
down when I was put on it and I lost weight down to 113 pounds from about
150. That was the first time I really looked and felt like an OLD woman!
Took me months to get over it.

Kelly,
Please be careful with the Cipro. I just had a very bad experience with
Levaquin and they are both in the same family: Flouroquinolone's and they
have as one of their side effect the detachment of ligaments. My RA started
to flare while I was on it and my side effects were neurological. Please be
very vigilant and if anything exacerbates, stop taking it and call the Doc!
I can't emphasize this enough. Stick with what you've used before, tried
and true. Please, please be very careful!
I'm sorry if I 'm scaring you but it took me three weeks before the side
effects started easing and my nervous system is in much better condition
than yours is. Please my dear friend, be very careful.
A very worried Dreamweaver

Well the infusion will not happen until at least the 19th. Pharmacare
approval (BC health insurance) has not come through yet but more
importantly I have.......yes a bad sinus infection. It slipped up on me
this time as I didn't have a cold and it affected my eyes and gave me
headaches that were different. The difference according to my doctor is
that it went deep and actually is pushing on the optical area. So
antibiotics for 10 days. Maybe my eyes will start feeling a little less
painful and the headache will finally go away (nothing has taken it away
for 2 days). The back teeth were hurting and so was the jaw but because
the discharge did not start happening until Sunday I didn't realize it was
this bad.
At least this time it did not happen the day before the infusion or in
between the 2 infusions. That is a great improvement.
My sense of humour is good this time too - I was so prepared for it. The
doctor on call was kind of cool too. He asked whether I could take cipro
or not (allergic to lots of antibiotics). I replied yes although last
time they gave me avelox. His reply to that "God I would never give an RA
patient avelox - it kills them." My doctor doesn't give cipro anymore.
Go figure - every doctor is different. I don't care so long as it takes
away the ruddy infection. this is a one a day cipro which is slow
release. They keep changing things - for the better I hope.
So off to grab a couple of hours of sleep - didn't get much last night.
At one point I almost dragged Pat out of bed last night to take me to ER
so I wouldn't poke my eyes out. They were that painful. Almost asked the
list for the causes for pressure on the eyes that bad. Have gone through
a whole box of eye drops for dryness this week. At least now I know the
cause. Of all my sinus infections this hit differently - didn't know it
could do this. Live and learn - but I would rather stay ignorant.
Stay healthy everyone. And I wasn't even around anyone with colds that I
knew of.
Kelly
