Wow, they won't even allow you to donate your own blood for
your own surgery???
That really is crazy!
My opinion exactly. I'll have to pay for blood, if I ever need
surgery, and that just infuriates me. I used to donate regularly,
they allowed me to donate every 6 weeks, and now I can't. So,
I'm not only disabled, I'm useless for anything.
Here, after a person has donated 1 gallon, they can rely on other
Gallon Club members to CYA if you ever need blood in the future.
Locally we also have a "stork club" to which a father-to-be (or a
friend or other relative) can donate. Then if the baby needs any
blood, EVERYTHING is covered. I saved my A$$ in 1970 when my 4th
(and last) son was born a "blue baby" and needed blood. It must
have been a premonition from above.
