Re: Kelly E.

I have been on macrobid for 9 months now - have one month left to go. The
problem is as soon as I am off another comes marching in. I do have another
autoimmune problem called interstitial cystitis which is more or less under
control with another med. This occasionally causes my urethra to tighten
right up - could be the problem again. Unfortunately there is a shortage of
urologists right now on the island and it is going to take a bit to get back
in to see mine. Under control again at the moment so..... fingers crossed.

We also know the meds that are compromising my immune system such as the
rituxan didn't help.

Thanks Navy - will remember that name though in case the body develops
resistance to the macrobid.

I kept having repeated UTIs and my gp sent me to a Urologist. He put me
on one 250mg Cephalexin every night for six months. He said a big cause of
repeated UTIs were the little germs that hide back in the corner when the
UTI is treated. A single urinalysis won't show those one or two germs, but
they are enough to multiply again. Well, I have one more month. We will
see if he is right. He did say he has had quite a bit of success with the
treatment.

Oooooooh, love, love, love reading this update of yours!!! So many
positives after such a long haul for you!!!

I know you still have a long ways to go, but can't even begin to tell
you how happy I am to hear that things are starting to finally improve a
bit for you!!! You sooooo deserve it!!!

Hope the urologist can get the UTI thing sorted out so you aren't
constantly battling those things. What a pain. Would be nice if it
turned out to be something as simple as doing the dilation and then the
UTI's would disappear!!!

Thrilled the rituxan has turned out so well for you and that you are
able to taper the pred! That in itself is such a huge accomplishment!

Sounds like you have lots of fun stuff planned for the summer and early
fall! You go girl!!! May you be able each and every thing to its
fullest extent!!!

What an incredible inspiration you are!!!

Thank you for updating and keep up the good stuff!!!

Sending along some prayers that all keeps going well and that you can
just relax and enjoy life for a bit!!!

I will update in another thread on my happenings.

Hugs,
