Re: I hate my computer

Jo, I can feel your pain...And we work on our own computers...But...I got the Virus from Hell the other day and had to wipe out my computer...Then when I put windows xp back on...It said we had used it too many times to get a new number...and so I was running it without updates...trying not to think about spending money for a new operating system or what to do..then Mike got the same virus...so we went and spent over 300.00 to get two new operating upgrades and a new virus program...
ARGH!!!!!!
No more gkids on my computer...We have narrowed it down to my gdaughter and Myspace....
I am so glad that we can fix computers...or else it would have cost me even more..
But now I will have to have a new printer...as mine is about 8 years old and there are no drivers for it to run on VISTA....
If it isn't one thing, it is fifty others...
Thanks for letting me in on your vent...
Cindy

And I hate 'Nerds on call'

My computer just returned from a two week 'sabbatical's.

I wanted my computer moved to another room, some more ram added and just a general tune up. It was working well enough at the time.

The tech guy moved it all, and ran diagnostics. All good. Wanted to do a tune up and increase RAM. OK.

Three hours later he is in the room with the computer mumbling and can no longer get online.

Has to take it to the shop. Two days later we learn he walked off the job after he took the computer in. And now it not only will not go online, it will only operate in safe mode.

Great.

Next call, they need to reinstall windows. Great again. If that doesn't work, they will need to format the hard drive.

Oh, goody. Just what I always wanted.

After two weeks, I have my computer back. Just like a brand new computer. All my data is sitting out in limbo to be retrieved as I figure out what I need and where it is. All my programs need reinstalled.

And I can't figure out how to get my contact list in Outlook to work everywhere else.

I did insist that they reinstall Outlook Express, Office, and Bubbels.

Told the very nice man who brought the computer back that he absolutely had to find and reinstall Bubbels, because that's my pacifier, and I think I'm gonna need it a lot.

Just needed to unload.

Jo
