M, a couple of folks have given the names of sites that are free and that
post the newsgroups. Since I just go through my ISP I haven't paid much
attention, but if they would post again, you could go through one of those
instead of Google. I've been through them a few times and I always thought
it was a hassel anyway!

Not with Thunderbird as a reader.
My cable company is very considerate of news server junkies and
hops to if anything goes awry.
Never tried posting or reading with google.
