I never had children of my own, but when I remarried in my early
forties, I was blessed with three stepdaughters. Even though I'm no
longer married to their dad, they're three of my best friends. Caitlin
is the youngest, a shy little 14 year old when I met her. Couldn't
even look me in the eye. It's been such a joy to watch her grow up and
blossom into a fabulous young woman, now 30. She longed to be
pregnant, and it finally happened. Yesterday, she emailed me asking
for a picture of the two of us together because she was putting
together a little photo album to have with her at the hospital. Alas,
with my crashed computer I couldn't send one. and now as of 1:15 this
am, she was on her way to the hospital to deliver. Even though my
oldest stepdaughter, Brittany, has two little ones who live 10 minutes
from me, I can't help but be most touched and thrilled by the thought
of "my" little girl and her sweet husband having a baby of their own.
Unfortunately, they live on the west coast and I'm on the east, so no
telling when I'll get to visit.
I'm praying everything goes smoothly. As a former maternity unit
social worker, I know too much. =:-o
just wanted to share.
