Well, in August I made the decision to lose weight. So I went to a seminar
for lapband surgery and decided that wasn't for me. Then I was googling
and found out that there was a bariatrician (a doctor who specializes in
medically supervised weight control) in my town. I decided that would be a
good idea since I have a lot of weight to lose and I have congestive heart
failure, in addition to arthritis.

I made an appointment and went to see him. It was actually 2 appointments
as he does a full evaluation before he talks to you about which type of
weight loss program would be the best. I had to go have blood tests and I
have to be grateful that he ordered those as my blood sugars were very
high and they showed that I have diabetes. I found this out on September
7th. I decided then and there that I would try to control it with diet
and exercise and I'm happy to report that the endocrinologist said that
I'm doing so well that I don't have to take medication for it. I've gotten
my fasting blood sugar down to a range of 109-114. When I had my test it
was 173! I'm sticking like glue to my food plan and exercising almost
every day.

I'm also happy to report that I've lost 27 pounds! I've started a little
webpage so that I can track my progress online. I have two photos of me
that were taken on August 10th, and the last one was taken a little over a
week ago when I had lost 25 pounds. I'm going to keep having photos taken
as I lose more. :-))
