donna, you are amazing! how can you even remember my sister with all
you've been going through?
i haven't written about her recently because i feel as though i've
taken up so much group time with her issues, but she can use your
continued prayers. she is at home with a 24 hour aide who can lift her
and is a real god-send, but her life is very very hard and she at
times talks about wanting to "chuck it all." she had a first session
with a new therapist today, having found one who'd come to the house,
but it was not a good match. she's decided she will find a way to get
to her old therapist's office, since she really liked him. a physical
therapist comes to the house twice a week. on september 10th, she'll
be able to weight bear on her broken hip and can then start more
serious PT. she plans to do it as an outpatient. she refuses to be an
inpatient again and i can't blame her.
the scary thing is, she now has a bladder infection thanks to weeks
with a foley. she woke up yesterday and again this morning with her
bag full of blood. she'd been on low dose coumadin since her surgery,
so her doc is taking her off that and of course she's on cipro. she's
no longer tough as nails, but at least she's still tough as thumb
tacks, so please keep her in your prayers.
