Re: prayers needed

She is in my prayers. I've known medical staff to go to great lengths to
help someone get to a special event such as this. They should know how she
feels about not getting to see the play - they might be able to work out
something to help her see a later performance. That might help her spirits a
bit. Or maybe they can make a good videotape and take it to her in the
hospital.

It's not brilliant, but when my mom had her TKR, I sent her some really nice
dried fruit from Trader Joe's (substitute an appropriate store in your area).
She said it really helped her survive the horrid hospital food. Other
thoughts/things I've done in the past: an "entertainment" suply, such as good
puzzle books & little jigsaw puzzles to pass the time, special music to
listen to (do I remember Melinda having some good healing-type tapes she's
made?), some nice herbal teas to sip - which work even while on a clear
liquid diet. I've always been fond of sending stuff that makes the days in
the hospital or in rehab less dull.
