So the last time I saw my doc (about a month ago) I got bloodwork done.

Apparently I'm deficient in both potassium and vitamin d.
The potassium was the second time in 6 months I've come up short on that
test, so not just a flukey electrolyte imbalance. (That's what they
figured the first time) - Well now thinking about it I realize that I've
often been low. However, the doctors have always said "eh, it's not really
any big deal." I am thinking it may not be such a minor issue. Maybe it's
related some some of my other health issues.

The vitamin D thing was actually suggested by T's doctor. Apparently she
feels that most folks in the PacNW are low due to the lack of sunlight, so
she routinely tests for it. T came up deficient, and so did I.

Anyway, just curious if anyone else has thoughts on the potassium thing. I
know it can have some serious effects with the heart, etc. But anyone have
experiences on things that can cause low potassium?

Prednisone messes with my potassium levels. Mostly any of my meds that have
any diuretic or laxative effect will. I have more trouble with magnesium
levels. They go down with the potassium but don't seem to be as easy to
bring back up with diet.

And you can only eat just so many bananas.

Hard to get your magnesium levels up with supplements without getting a
laxative effect as well.

I was all ready to suggest you start a group at work to sit outside in the
sun during morning breaks to help with your vitamin D. I've been doing
really well by getting out in the yard early to water. Or just to drink my
coffee and read the paper. And to play with Kayla.

Mentally I'm not a morning person. My body has other ideas. If you have to
get up at 5am for a pain pill you might just as well stay up.

I was doing great today. Got the plants watered and killed some weeds.
Threw a tennis ball about 50 times. But when I came in at 8am it was
already 80f/27c and the computer says we are headed for 105f/40c. I think
I'm done for the day.
