Jo, you have such a wonderful way with words, and I certainly couldn't have
said it half as well.
Kate, I second what Jo said, and send my love. Let Alex know that Mommy
needs a little more of his time for a little while.
Hugs,
Kelly C.

Maybe more like empty life. You have been so occupied for a long time now
with problems not of your choosing. And it is perfectly normal to handle
these things just fine while they are actually keeping you busy. But a
lot of things have finished and you are left with time and a quiet house
and it is so very hard.
I cannot believe what big empty spaces my father and mother and brother
left in my life when they were gone. Or how very much I still miss them.
Of course everyone will tell you that time will make things better. And
you know its true. And you know it doesn't help a bit right now.
But don't hesitate to let Alex know you need him around a little more now
for a while anyway. I'll bet he is feeling some of that emptiness too.
Then the only other "cure" I know for this kind of blues is to start to
plan something. Maybe something as small as an afternoon at a nice public
garden. (We loved the rhododendrons in Vancouver last week) Maybe a
longer trip. Maybe redecorate a room. But get involved and occupied even
if you have to force it for a while.
And know you have a whole crowd here that loves you.
Jo
