I was sorry not to meet up with them too. wish I could have gotten their
message in time. I am taking care of myself - the week is kind of tough but
I know what to do. Hope the money for stamps helps a bit - wish I could
have sent more. I know what your cards mean to me (you can always spend the
money on chocolate if you want - it was really just a thank you for all you
do Jo.)

Glad to see you back again. Glad you had fun. Now you rest up.
I am sorry you didn't get to meet up with Joe and Mary.
You take care of yourself and do what you have to do to get much better.
Thank you for the card and the money for stamps that was so kind of you.

Love and Hugs to all
Jo the squirrely one
i am back sort of. Came back on Wednesday from my trip and immediately
fell into bed, many baths etc. But I did it. The shingles were still
itchy and achy but not contagious anymore on the trip. I took extra
prednisone and it looked like it but unfortunately I am coming down again
and the body feels it. I learnt lots from the trip though and had a great
time.
First you have to be really aggressive these days in an airport. That
wheelchair is a necessity and people need to be reminded about it - just
because you remind them once doesn't always cut it. They forgot
preboards, forgot wheelchairs, etc. The airlines are short ground
staff - no doubt about it. They were great though - once I reminded them
nicely that I needed wheelchairs and stopped pretending that I could do
it with my cane! Also I got good at taking my painkiller early - not
waiting until the pain was unbearable. That was really necessary and
against the grain for me. That also meant eating regularly so my stomache
did not rebel (which it did) from the extra painkillers and prednisone.
Unfortunately I did not manage to meet up with Joe and Mary as I got
their email too late. We could have met for breakfast but checking email
after I left home just didn't work out. We also ran constantly while we
were in Disneyland - did not leave time for rests etc.
Now for the scooter company. I used Scootaround and they were excellent.
The scooter was a good one in excellent condition, was waiting for me at
the hotel and they were picking it up afterwards. I could not have done
this trip any other way. Defininitely could not have walked to
Disneyland (even though we were right across from the gates), stood in
line for admission and then stood in line to rent a scooter (which I
might not have received if they were busy). I will use this company
again - I got first class service and they will enable me to travel -
what more can I ask for. Pat and I are still talking about going to New
Mexico at one point this year and willl use it again then.
I have noted that things got out of control on the group again while I
was away. Rose - I am so sorry about your BIL's diagnosis but sincerely
hope his GP is right. I am thinking of your family - too much happening
this year for them. Glad to hear though that you other sister's
replacement is finally falling into place so to speak. Too long coming.
Glad also to hear your doctor is getting aggressive with the sinus
problem - might enable you to get a handle on the RA with the enbrel.
Ginny is in my thoughts - what a trip!! Becky glad to hear the trip went
okay. My take on feeling better on holidays - no dishes, no housework,
smaller area usually to be in (ie: hotel instead of house) and relaxing.
After 4 days I seem to be just as sore as usual. Of course the West
Coast rain we are getting right now is not helping at all! Adelle - your
mom might be fine flying - the risks might be overtaken by her need to
see you and the kids. I can understand that - my grandmother went through
that. It is hard from your side though. Good thoughts coming your way.
Gwen - enough already - time to rest that leg. KJ - rest too! Thinking
of both of you as you recover. Carole - hope that this is just a blip on
the horizon with all this crap. Try to do something nice for yourself
each day - some photography, some reading, maybe a really short walk.
The sun will eventually shine and in the meantime maybe a lawyer can
straighten out the cobra - if nothing else he might light a fire under
the *** of cingular human resources.
I know I have forgotten someone but sheesh there were over 200 messages
and my hands are sore! Back to bed to try to get the feet marginally
down in swelling. Take care everyone please - no more breaks etc.!
Kelly
