I have one of those Bodum coffee press pot thingees. They have them for one cup, 4 cups, etc. Get one that you can handle the weight of. I have the same problem and that's what I have switched to. I also have a Bodum electric water kettle as it is lighter, boils the water and has auto shut-off and works for me.
