I don't think they keep a record of purchases but the ones I've dealt
with keep a record when you register the software.
Although you can register, ScanSoft (Dragon), as of ver 8, uses a
constant activation process. Apparently previous versions were higghly
pirated so the went to activation. Much like Windows XP. Illegal copies
only work for five times. Serial numbers can be use many more but I do
not know how many times.
