Do arthritis meds affect nails?

Since my RD couldn't answer this I am coming to the experts. :-)
My toenails are beginning to have a 'dip' in the end and the centre part looks
as if it would like to curl down and under. The nails are not thick or anything,
but I was wondering if any of the meds cause changes to the nails. I am on MTX
and Plaquenil. I have vertical ridges on some of the toenails and on the nails
of both thumbs. My grandmother had marked vertical ridges on her thumb nails
too. Is this hereditary or a result of arthritis? My grandmother certainly
wasn't on any of the meds available today but her hands were affected by what I
now think was probably OA.
This is not a problem, I'm just curious.
