Hi
I posted recently regarding an operation to remove the radial head in
the left elbow due to RA, many of you sent useful & helpfull posts,
many thanks.
Well the surgery went ahead after a liver function scare, I was
admitted on 20th April, had the op in the morning & released in to the
care of my lovely wife later that evening, I didn't even get time to
taste the lovely hospital food.
I still have a wound dressing on & will be getting the sutures taken
out 2nd May. In terms of results I've gained a little pronation (palm
down) 35deg but no supanation (palm up), I always get them mixed up, as
this is restricted by the wrist deformity. The flexion & extension
remain about the same as before surgery (65-110). I'm hopeful that
although I havn''t gained much in functional ROM I will have reduced
pain on movement. It's still only a week since surgery so there is
still some bruising & swelling. I'm back on the DMARDS & full pain
killers which I had to stop/reduce before surgery, not flaring too
much, luckly the immune system has got some real work to do.
I've been signed off from work till 8th., May. So I plan to take it
nice & easy for a week or two. The follow up is not till 20th., June
when I expect to be booked in to have the right side done.
I'll keep you posted.
Dave
I'll keep you updated of any changes
