a couple of hints...

I have guardianship of my father who is 88 years old and has Parkinson's and
some cardio- and respiratory problems. He gets around in a companion chair
which he propels by "walking" while sitting down. Being in the chair limits his
reach and the places he can get to in the house and the shelves and counters he
can use.
We have found that unpadded stools, 24 to 30 inches high, are great for use as
low tables. We put one under the shelf the microwave is on so that he has a
place to put his food to stir it. They are also handy next to cabinets so he
has a place to put large boxes while removing what he needs.
He also has trouble using a dresser, so we put a 3 shelf bookcase by his bed
with plastic shoe boxes and similar containers to hold his underwear, socks,
etc.
The more he can do for himself, the better he feels.
