OTP Computer Expert Needed

I get emails with attachments, some are Power Point and some are not, that
when I try to open them I am asked if I want to open them or not. I click
on yes and then I got a notice that says. "This file does not have a program
associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the
Folder Options control panel."
I have Windows XL and have "Power Point viewer 2003."

My DIL says she has only ever seen Power Point listed on the programs
without "Viewer" on it. Does that make any difference on Power Point?

Any help will be very much appreciated.
