Philly is a dirty run down city with nothing to recommend it to free agent
players. The Philadelphia teams have enjoyed some great seasons in all
sports before the days of free agency but they have been pretty dismal for
the past twenty year or so. The truth is not always pretty but that does
not keep it from being the facts.
Eagles - big joke
Phillies - bigger joke
76'ers - huge joke
Flyers - who?
Well if we're talking dirty, run-down jokes in PA - Pittsburgh fits
the bill.
Philly doesn't think about Pittsburgh; it's not a peer, it's not on
the radar. It's a little midwestern steel town in western PA, closer
to Youngstown or Allentown in size, importance, and culture than it is
to Philadelphia. Not that there's anything wrong with that <G>, but
Pittsburgh feels the slight keenly, that big brother Philly ignores it
in favor of major city peers. Get over yourself already.
Proof of the pudding is your post. Ever see any Philly trolls in
Pittsburgh NGs? Thought so.

Philadelphia, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Buffalo are all the same thing. Run down cities that are decades past their prime. You can probably add Baltimore, St Louis, Milwaukee, and Cincinnati to that list.
Most all of the star players, in any sport, who are still in their prime want to play in NY, CA, MA, or FL and you full well know it.
About the only two cities in between are Atlanta and Chicago, not that either one of them have been any good at sports lately.
I take umbrage at the St. Louis mention. It happens to be a very vibrant city, with a lot less of the pessimisms seen in the much older towns. I have lived here 5 years coming from Toledo, and I have been very impressed. They have the same midwest attitudes that I came frrom, without all the pesimism. Cleveland is on its way back. Baltimore, well, i don't want to make that call. I have a personal grudge against the town, but I do hear it is nice on the waterfront. Milwaukee is what you would expect out of a blue collar no frills town. The people there are some of the best you could hope to meet. The same can be said with some, but not very many of the folks in philly, of which 1/2 my family is from. But Philly is an old town, again, filled with a lot of pesimisms. Personally I think it's a beautiful town that needs a good scrubbing. Cinci is not even loved by folks in Ohio. They would just as well accept another state annexing the former hog slaughter capital of the US.
Thanks for the opportunity to let me put my $.02 in. Keep up the hope Eagles fans. Enjoy the fact that your city has a team, to love, or to hate.

I did not say that Milwaukee and the rest were not full of good people. I said that 24-36 year old superstar free agent athletes are rarely going to consider those cold weather rust belt dull ass cities. The star players want CA, FL, or NY with Boston, Chicago, and perhaps even Atlanta forming a second tier.
