A surprising amount of people are
taking Jacksonville in this game.
Jax -was- 12-4 last year.
Taylor and Smith (who's essentially
retired anyway), combined, are like 90
years old, and Wilford is still green.
Jimmy Smith isn't "essentially retired", he IS retired. He did so in
May.
Ernest Wilford had a decent 2nd season last year, 700 yards, 7 TD's, 16
YPC avg...Matt Jones is the one who has the growing pains as he was
learning WR on the fly his rookie year, after being a QB in college at
Arkansas.
Taylor is 30, and is reportedly in the best shape he's ever been in
after working out very hard in the offseason. We'll see what effect this
has, but Taylor is likely feeling the heat of not only Greg Jones ready
to possibly take his job, but also Maurice Drew, the speedy, shifty 2nd
rd pick from UCLA. To think that the Eagles should have this game based
on your opinion of Taylor & J. Smith was faulty. It's not the same
Jaguars team as 5 years ago.
Leftwich is inconsistent and throws the ball
like he's trying to spear an elephant
Hey, is that a racist comment? LOL, j/k...honestly, I can't argue with
you too much there, except for the fact that Leftwich can still make all
the throws well & IMO, has one of the top 5 strongest arms of the NFL
starting QB's of current.
They've got a fine defense, but who cares?
We'll see if McNabb cares when the Jags front four is beating him to a
pulp. Better hope your O-line is ready. Jax was in the top 3 in QB sacks
last year.
No, Eagles 6-2 going into the bye week.
More notes to chew on:
Jags lead the head to head series 2-0 vs. the Eagles
What is the Eagles record in the game before a bye week under the Reid
regime? I know it isn't all that great. IIRC, the last time the Eagles
faced Jax, that was also the week prior to a bye week for the Eagles.
Jax won pretty handily that time as well, and that was a BAD Jaguars
team that finished 6-10 that year vs. an Eagles team that finished 13-3
or so.
