stuff like this when the other hand is so adamant that there is no problem

WR. But let's not serve up Gaffney-aid until the guy plays a game or three
in green.
Are they really worried about the outside perception of the WR corps that
Jabar Gaffney needs to be put on a pedestal?

Gaffney is nothing more then "a guy". Staking ones belief that his
limited effectiveness was simply a result of the shitty team he played
on last season is a certain path to frustration this year. Is he an
upgrade from Freddie Mitchell? Probably from a route perspective. Will
he take the same chances over the middle? I doubt it. I know this
spawned from the Patriots/Saints trade, which is a negatable trade IMO,
one slug for another. I wouldn't want either of those two in Eagle
green over Gaffney. They went after Walker and it didn't pan out, I'm
satisfied they at least took a real college try at him.
Sure-Handed Gaffney
ESPN Insider recently evaluated NFL wide receivers' performances in 2005 and
concluded that Jabar Gaffney, playing with Houston, dropped just five passes
last season and that when his catchable passes number was divided by the
number of dropped passes he had, Gaffney ranked among the top 20 receivers
in the league.
Certainly, Gaffney has been nothing but outstanding in this spring camp. He
and Donovan McNabb seem to have developed a quick chemistry and Gaffney has
caught everything thrown his way -- passes to the sidelines, over the
middle, down the seam -- and he seems to be settling in very nicely in this
offense.
"Every day it feels better and better," said Gaffney. "I know it takes some
time and I'm working at it. You have to take it patiently and I'm doing
that. I'm pretty happy with the way things are going."
