<another Fox News worshipper plonked>Polarmutt is a proven liar.
he watched Beck faithfully and then posts what he heard as gospel
and then when the truth is shown him he just moves on to the next lie.
Ahh...I'm still chuckling over his comment that big business is good cause
they hire people. LOL.
Shallow thinkers. The Right loves them.
..
they are doing it out of kindness.
Against my better judgement, I'm going to attempt to explain this simple concept to your closed little mind:
Employers hire people because doing so will make them MORE money, while at the same time providing a living for the person they hire, who will then take THAT money and buy things that other people will need to produce, people who will then take THAT money and buy things that they need, and so on.
I'd recommend you take an Economics 110 course, but they don't have your preferred Che Guerrera and Hugo Chavez versions in any major colleges.
that's the theory but not the practice.
Boston has a waterfront.
ships used to dock there. RR ran there and the ships unloaded and the trains filled and good shipped around the country.and vice versa, goods from the USA were loaded on ships.
Mort Zuckerman moved in bought up the waterfront and "developed" it.
the Long Wharf Marriot, the Harbor Towers Condos etc, he made a scad of money in a short term for him and him alone it made a great deal.
thousands were put out of work. docks that provided a longterm and steady economic value were deatroyed for a short term mega-profit. that is economics 101 today.
wages to earn a living, hah,
today its we can shut a factory in Iowa that pay $15 an hour and ship the jobs to Vietnam where the pay is 25 cents an hour. so even if the American workers took a 50% or even 75% pay cut Vietnam is still a better deal for Wall Street. that is economics 101.
the idea is for the stock holders to make maximum money all the time.
if all the rest of the people suffer so what I've got mine.
well the people who are suffering have a natural right to survive and a natural right to revolt.
I have as much right to take from you with a gun as you take from me with a pencil. that is real too.
and that is where we are headed.
you teabaggers are mad as hell and some of you are already talking 2nd amendment remedies.
someday they'll realize they are mad at the wrong people.
its not the poor who are stealing everything. if they were they wouldn't be poor.
look at who is taking everything. who's getting rich. eventually the teabaggers will figure that out.
and then there will be revolution.
That's it exactly. PH can't comprehend anything beyond the black and white notion of "they hire people." You hit the nail on the head with the concept that they are out to make money and nothing more. There isn't a profit-oriented business out there that has done anything for the greater good unless it meant they would make money (or are regulated to do so by the government).
This past recession has proven, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that left alone, big business will make stupid short-sighted decisions to make a buck. They will not pay more than they can get away with and will minimize benefits in order to maximize profit.
Just look at the health insurance industry. They pay people, sure. These same people have to lie and cheat hard working Americans if they want to keep their job. Billions upon billions of dollars were being stolen from these hard working Americans with the catch-all "Pre-existing condition." (Well, not any more...as I understand it). But up to reform, the insurance company could change the life of a hard working American with the stroke of a pen by using that catch-all for many conditions that could not possibly be pre-existing (including a broken wrist!!). The idea was that people would be afraid of losing coverage and not appeal the denied claim and pay thousands out of pocket. In the case of the woman who tripped and broke her wrist, she appealed and got her $6000 back. Luckily, she didn't let fear stop her.
But millions of others didn't appeal out of fear and the insurance companies raked in billions that should have otherwise been paid out.
Another woman, a nurse, was denied any insurance because of an old lower back injury. They not only denied her any coverage, they denied her child coverage because of the woman's "pre-existing condition." The woman didn't care if they didn't cover anything related to her lower back problem...she just wanted insurance. I believe reform now allows her to purchase insurance (yup...not all the 30 million now being covered by insurance are poor, lazy, welfare cases that Fox news would like you to believe they are).
Heck, the very notion that a child goes without health care in richest nation on Earth is obscene.
And need I mention the hundreds of seniors who travel to Canada every day to load up on Rx medications because they are a fraction of the price in the US.
Yup. Hard working Americans who've retired and are subjected to outrageous fees for the exact same medicine that is a fraction of the cost in Canada...because our government regulates the price. In the US, it's a free for all and profit comes first.
And people like PH are getting raped by these same companies and are completely blind to it. Sad, really.
