In a free-market system, those interests are almost always
aligned.

Bullshit. There isn't an industry out there that cares more for
people than it does about making a buck. Are you so blinded by
your ideology that you honestly believe the oil or health care
industry, for example, actually care about YOU.

I think you misunderstood what I said. I never said, or even
implied that corporations care about people.

What I said was that, for the most part, because consumers are free
to choose alternatives to what any given company is selling, and if
it doesn't exist, then that demand creates a void that will
inevitably be filled by some company of other, then the result is
that the consumers interests and the interests of business are
aligned.

Before you fly off the handle again without knowing what I mean by
aligned, I do not mean the same. They may be very different, but
they are generally headed in the same direction.

Yes, there are many times where the free market fails to provide
that alignment, and so the degree of government regulation may very
well be in order. But to use those instances to argue for a
government owed and controlled market place would be silly.

They don't. The fact that the oil industry is spending BILLIONS
to convince you that Climate Change isn't real is evidence
enough that they care more about making money than they do about
the welfare of the human race.

The fact that they spend some amount of money to advocate their
interests is what makes the free market work so well. That's not to
say that every penny is spent wisely, but the only cure for that is
a severe limitation upon free speech. Is that what you want?
