ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin called
President Barack Obama's health plan "downright evil" Friday in
her first online comments since leaving office, saying in a
Facebook posting that he would create a "death panel" that would
deny care to the neediest Americans.

We already have that death panel........a nameless faceless
beaurocrat at your local HMO/Blue Cross/etc. who denies your
claim thus sentencing you to death.
I have seen what the Feds have done for the mail delivery monopoly
and the passenger rail monopoly and I would as soon as not see them
take over my health care.

Better to have a doctor decide what treatment is best for you than a
pencil pusher at an insurance company who can arbitrarily decide
that your condition is "pre-existing" and deny your claim so that
they can stay in the black.

At least with universal care, you won't be denied treatment. You may
wait a little longer for non-emergency care, but you will get it.

Health care for profit is obscene.

..

Then why does everyone else in the world come here for health care?
Because it is obscene?

Why do American seniors visit Canada by the BUSLOAD every day???

Some individuals go to the US for care because Americans pay so much
money for coverage, the hospitals can afford to offer the best care in
the world...but ONLY for those THAT CAN AFFORD IT.

Doesn't do much for the almost 50 million Americans who can't afford
that care. It's obscene that a woman with completely treatable breast
cancer is sent home to die in the richest nation on Earth. Absolutely
obscene.

..

We have the most expensive health care system in the world but it is ranked
35th in the world in quality and effectiveness, and we are an astonishing
50th in life expectancy. Most of the countries that rank even worse than the
U.S. in these statistics are in the do-not-drink-the-water castegory. It's
shameful. This is what capitalistic, for-profit health care has done to the
United States. I'm utterly astonished that even one person would continue to
support this kind of plundering exploitation at the direct expense of
people's health and costing many their very lives.

Yeah. I hear about the ads running down there from a woman who said she would have died if she stayed here for brain cancer treatment. Even if her case is real, it is a very rare exception to the rule. I know a number of people treated for cancer. All but one is still alive today (with the one death a result of the woman waiting much too long to seek treatment because she didn't want "to bother the doctor"). The others survived breast, prostrate, brain and lung cancer as well as leukemia. The leukemia survivor is the world's longest living bone marrow recipient. If he was American relying on his insurance, he would be dead now because bone marrow transplants in the late 70s was considered an "experimental" treatment and insurance companies don't cover them. None of the cancer survivors noted here have lost a job, a car or home because of their illness. Because they were treated and survived, they've returned to work as productive TAXPAYING citizens.

Being alive and paying taxes is certainly less of a burden on society than being sick, unable to work, unable to support your family and relying on social services in order to survive. Unfortunately, the well funded conservative right is on a campaign of lies out performed only by their campaign against climate change. How Americans can so easily lap up the lies is beyond me.

We must change the way we live,
or the climate will do it for us.
