I'm pretty sure Capers was DB coach /assistant coach. Now that a
formal "assistant coach" slot is open, could that entice Romeo
to come back to that position?
What's the big deal about having him back? I'm not saying it's a bad
idea, but it's not a great idea either.
I dunno man I don't have the stats in front me as I'm getting to head
out
to work but it seems to me the defense was much more stout and better
prepared under RAC. Like I said no stats to back up my claim but that's
how I remember it comparatively.
Another thing to consider is how much Cleveland's D sucked under Romeo.
Can he magically turn the Pats D back into a force?- Hide quoted text -

I think that RAC "got" what Belichick is trying to do better than
anybody else since. The defense may not be as talented, but under
Crennel the defense shut down Peyton Manning with both starting
cornerbacks out due to injuries. As you know from watching Mangini
fumble around the past couple of years, running a tight 3-4 defense is
tricky and is a bit of an art form. Belichick and Crennel were just
"in synch" all the time; it just seemed like the defense was tougher
-- when the Pats defense HAD to make a stop, they did. If that same
toughness were in place last couple of years, the Pats would probably
have won two more SBs.
<< I hate to say this, but I think the Jets failures on D was trying to put
the square peg in the round hole for 2 years. It appears after this last
season, the key was not having Jenkins and when Jenkins back gave out, you
saw how that changed the defensive line play and the ability to stop the
run.
The Pats have also been fortunate to find some very good DB's late in the
draft, but this upcoming season, I really don't see Harrison starting and
Merriwether though a good player is not the type of leader back there that
Harrison was. Bruschi is also going to be a reserve or retired from playing.
Vrable still seems to be able to play, but the clock is running on him. Mayo
likely will need to step in to be the leader on that unit and that is a lot
to ask of a second year player, and lastly I read some things here that
people feel Seymore will be gone after this year. If that happens, I don't
care if BB takes the DC job himself and hires a HC, there is going to be a
lot of issues on D.>>
