1. Generate pressure with only 4 guys. If the Giants can't do this, then

Brady when he tries to step up.

This is the real key. Much like playing the Colts, teams really need
to be able to generate a good amount of pressure with not many guys,
as you need a whole lot of dudes running around protecting the passing
attack.

4. Be aggressive. Go for it on 4th and short every time you're on the other
side of the 50. At some point in this game, preferably early, the Giants
should try an onside kick. No one's done this since Philly.

All of this applies to every team really. Too many coaches are afraid of
going for it on 4th & short. What was that study done a while back that
came to the conclusion that simply playing all 4 downs every time would
be superior overall to the standard 3 downs & punt?

Yeah, I agree that more teams should do this. But I probably shouldn't have said "short". What I meant was anytime it's not 4th and 15 or something like that. Even if it's 4th and 8 from New England's 48 yard line, you have to go for it. You can't play field position against the Patriots.

4th and 8 from the 48? Sorry. That's nuts. The odds of getting 8 yards off the Pats D in that circumstance seem really low to me. Then you hand the Pats that short a field? No way.

Now if they're down by a couple of touchdowns in the second half...maybe.

No it is not "nuts". A team will have to score northward of 30 points to beat the Patriots on a clear track and in good weather. If each team has the ball for 9-10 possessions a game, that means scoring TDs on practically every other one. Punts, field goals and three-and-outs are the path to defeat.

Rememeber Belichick went for 4th and short on his own side of the field in the playoffs against Indy, just to keep possession and Manning off the field. Thats thre way the Giants will have to approach this game.

What? Last year? How did that work out?
