Reaction to Hill's death.

1) I'm not fan of posting tributes like silent posts or expressions
of how tragic and sad things like this must be, or advice as to what
we should be thinking of his family or other such stuff. To me,
people who post such things might actually feel badly, and may
actually want to express that, but I suggest that in most of them,
there's also an element of just using a tragedy like this in order to
make themselves look good to others. 'Look at me, and how badly I
feel, and what a big heart I have'.

2) By the same token, I also think that a simple post the entire
subject of which is a few kind words about the victim of such a
tragedy so that he leaves this Earth on a positive note are perfectly
appropriate as long as it's honest and fair and doesn't try to make
his wrongs into rights.

3) But most of all, I just don't see the need to bash a guy, or make
light of the tragedy, or use an occasion like this to make totally
irrelevant jokes and smears. Some of the stuff that's been posted in
here recently is simply without merit, in bad taste, and just plain
wrong. Let the guy go in peace. At least be human enough to allow
some period of time for grieving and positive remembrance. Sure, his
close friends and family may never read or hear of this junk, but then
again, can we be all that sure? How readily will this stuff come up
in a Google search? And why set the tone for this kind of nonsense to
be acceptable or appropriate just because we think those in pain will
not see or hear of it? Is that really who we are?

4) I used to think that the low-life's of the world like Dude and
DannyBoy were just posting crap because it was their shtick. That
they were being irreverent because they wanted attention and were
trying to emulate guys like Stern & Imus & the other imbeciles that
they admire. But I always held out hope that at least some of them
could be shamed or otherwise convinced to knock that *** off in
certain circumstances. But now I realize that some of these morons
can never be convinced. Now I know that some people are not only just
plain stupid, but that they're so self-absorbed that they simply know
no bounds of decency.

It really is a shame that scum like this are really not all that tough
to find. I'm willing to bet that either of these guys could pass as
just ordinary morons in real life, and that no one would think one way
of the other of them. How sad that in the end, seeking attention and
thrills no matter the depths to which they must sink is all that
really matters to them, no matter how much pain they might cause, or
the degree to which they're willing to drag normal human discourse
their level.

Congratulations guys. You've stumbled into the perfect defense of
your idiocy. The more irreverent you are, and the less pride or
self-respect you can show, then the less likely you'll ever believe
that any kind of criticism of your foolishness will stick. And then
you can be blissful in your ignorance. What's really pathetic is that
you don't understand that you've become a low-life, no matter what you
think of yourself.
