I'm not sure which is funnier, the fact that people are in awe over a
billionaire giving money to charities or the fact that the billionaire
is telling everyone he gives money to charities.

It looks to me as if that figure came about as a result of the Globe Magazine doing some investigative reporting - not because Bob or Myra "is telling everyone". Furthermore, the vast majority of Bob Kraft's net worth is tied into the team. Just because he's worth $1.3b doesn't mean he has $1.3b sitting in some bank account somewhere.
