Re: So much for Claridge...

But if they do nothing with it, then it'll be very suspicious. I wonder
though if they could use it right up until the last week of the season --
like to convert some of Jarvis Green's bonus to salary or something like
that to lessen the cap hit next year.

remember the Gorin rollover maneuver of a few years back that ended up
fortuitously used for the SB winning year NLTBE incentives that would
have come out of the next year's cap, wonder how much of that they could
shift into next year before the league takes a hard look?

I was thinking (hoping at this point) that since they can't find value
this year that they figure this year is an aberration with the regular
percentage cap increase plus the big bump from the new CPA, creating a
sellers market that they despise so much. so, take a flier, maybe grab a
late camp cut, or 2, even if its an eye on the future, and instead try
to use the slight of hand of playing with LTBE's and shift a nice ***
of that cap space into next year where things should return to more a
normal year and then they will have that extra 5-7 mill that they
otherwise wouldn't to shop around for value then, or make it easier for
signing there own FA's.

I will say that I have always supported BB's ways of spreading around
the money and never allowed the cheap talk in my presence, but, if they
did go into this season with 8-9 mill in cap space and eventually Bob
Kraft pockets that because, as I can see it, they couldn't find their
usual value and to damn stubborn to except this year's salary
volatility, I will be very pissed. they have always spent up to the cap
and if they pocket it at the behest of Vinatieri, Branch, McGinest and a
few slightly overpriced FA's they cold have used for security, I may
change my tune a bit.

I don't understand why they just did't look at this as the aberration it
is and get a little crazy just this time, and say for instance, give a
little more guarnateed moneys than you usually would to someone like
Branch but use all that space to front load and therefore isn't the
usual problem down the road it alwyas becomes, that they try so hard to
control. Like, 3 years 19 mill, say 6 mill in bonus and this years
salary of 5 mill, making it a 7 mill 06 cap hit. that way, his numbers
would actually come down over the next 2 years. its a little crazy, but
hell, its a funny money cap year, to me, step out of yourself just this
once, far better than letting the Kraft family add to their billionaire
status.

if its Nov. 15 and they are sitting with 7-8 mill in cap space, I for
one would like to here the rational other than the owner deserve a
little landfall every once and while himself. after all, he is into it
to make money, even if he is making truckloads right now, another
truckload can't hurt. that just won't fly with me because the things is,
this team seems to have some real depth concerns at several key areas
and could have used that 7-8 mill real bad I would think, as opposed to
the Kraft family, like they need it?

I guess what has set me off is with all the early camp injuries this
team looks very shaky, especially in the depth, at almost every position
except DL and QB past the starting QB, TE too I guess. I just figured by
now I would have seen the grand plan by BB evolving already instead of
all that empty FA activity on their part, playing it tight with their
FA's and now fuckin' around with the only real WR they have, and the big
LB strategy is cut Claridge, Chad Brown approaches them and says he
still has the fire, and Larry Izzo, or late day 2 rookies??? and then
there's the defensive backfield. I was hoping it was like, yea we would
have loved Ty back, but look here, Randall Gay has now overcome his
injury days and ready to show us his stuff again. but instead, he is
still hurt and fuddling around on the sideline bike per usual and Wilson
is moved to corner as Tebucky now holds down to hold the fort in the
middle. and please, dear god, Rodney, make it back from the brink!

seems to me like they didn't plan for *** but just sat their and
said.... hell, he's too high - thats ridiculous for a B player - hmm,
they're crazy to give that guy that kind of money.... will just hold
tight and use one of my old stand by strategy- a hope and a prayer. the
thing is, I can accept this all in the past because they were always
right down to the wire with the cap, but ***, I don't want to hear this
*** when you're sitting on a big stash of 10 mill under the cap and
telling me woe is me, gotta stick to your guns. BULL***!!!

again, it early, I know, but that first week injury report has spooked
me a bit, and I want to know, where's that genius grand plan???!!!
