Bush picks Paulson as shock choice for US Treasury post

In a notable coup that could revive his flagging administration, President
George Bush has persuaded ex-comedian Pat Paulson, now the chairman of
Goldman Sachs, to become the US Treasury Secretary.

The announcement, which took the markets and most financial analysts by
surprise, was made by Mr Bush at the White House during a ceremony
attended by Mr Paulson and John Snow, the outgoing Treasury Secretary, who
signalled his intention to step down just before the Memorial Day weekend.

I thought Pat Paulsen was dead!!

I think he is. I reincarnated him with digital sleight-of-hand
(ducking). I was going to put "(ducking)" in at the end and forgot.
Ooops.

Every time I see this new Paulsen guy introduced publically I'm going
to crack up though. It's not like the guy's name was Rickles or
Dangerfield, although those would have been fine names for the guy.
The name Paulsen, with Pat being the pre-eminent presidential
front-runner for many years was just too perfect.

So now that I'm in Hollywood mode I have a wish to make to the gods of
film: Please let Mel Brooks and Woody Allen conspire to make a movie
about Dubya trying to shoot up the wild west on horseback. It would be
too good to be true. It would be like shooting fish in a barrel, or
*** Cheney shooting the face off a friend. I can think of fifty jokes
for that script without even trying.

How about him riding with Custer and capturing a scout or two and
declaring "Mission Accomplished"?

How about him riding tough toward the camera through the desert,
closer, closer (telephoto view), comes to a halt with dust flying right
in front of the camera, the horse turns slightly, and you then see the
pilot sitting behind him holding the reigns?

Somewhere on his travels he would surely meet Clevon Little on his
Palamino. I'll leave that part of the script to Mel. I'm sure it
would be "interesting".

How about when he meets the equivilant of Pancho Villa and they shake
hands like bros from the hood, smile, wink at each other, and ride off
in opposite directions saying to themselves, "YES!"

How about his steely eyes staring across the prarie in the morning as
he sips a cup of coffee, as says to his cavalry buddy, "The injuns,
they are bad. We are good. We will never give up trying to free 5% of
them by annihilating 95% of them."

What happens when he's feeling particularlly tough and meets up with
Rowdy Yates? Yates: "You may not remember me, but I remember you,
asswipe."

What happens if he crosses the border on an insurgency mission and
meets a brilliant swordsman who says to him, "My name is Inego Montoya.
You killed my father - prepare to die"?

OK, I'll stop. Lunch break over ....... (but I want to write the
whole script)

I want to know the answers to these questions.
