Yes. My basic premise is that I disagree that signing him to the extension was a mistake, since it limited the team's liability to him as long as they wanted to keep him. The only reason that it would have been a mistake from the team's standpoint would be if, based on his injury history, they wanted to let him go at the end of the season.

Boz is not arguing that they should not have re-signed him from the history. He is arguing that this year they they had the option not to gamble.

But a lot can go wrong in restricted free agency. I do not think it was a mistake to give him the extension either. I do not think it would have necessarily been a mistake to allow him to be a RFA. It is a trade off on risk/benefit not a right or wrong choice with out a crystal ball
