Also BTW, since I cannot see atoms and molecules with my own

I'm curious. Where exactly does the Bible telll you that? Chapter

well thanks for the answer...hope to see some good stuff about the
Lakers from you once in a while...what name did you go by before
yesterday?
glad you have no agenda...I'll leave it up to BW to explain it but I
think you missed the sarcasm.

It is entirely posible that I missed the intended sarcasm. Online
communication can be like that.

To answer the question...It was not so much 'in the bible' as the early
church adopting the europeons ingrained world view of india and early
Gre
ece
that everything was made of those 4 elements plus Aristotle's  added
"aether".
The concept lasted past the middle ages and any 'new science' else wise
w
as.
The 'science' had those 4 elements in a circle and like the main
carteris
t
of water was not even wet.
Water was first cold and then wet while Air was 1st wet and then hot,
Fir
e
was hot and then dry, Earth was dry and then cold.

The Church liked the concept of aether and applied it to the holy ghost
a
nd
heaven and stuff...and used it christian dogma. So the church used
variou
s
verses to 'prove' that those were the only 5 elements...if not named
somewhere in the bible it did not exsist...sort of like todays 'creation
science'.  =)

And going against it was heresy...with all the medieval church
consequenses...which I think is what he was quiping about... religion
interfering with science is ongoing and the religious extremists twist
th
e
meaning of science in the process.

The 'new' middle ages alchemy in europe started with the adoptions of
the
writings of an arab scientist ...ibn someone (Ibn means 'son of' so that
covers a lot of ground)... kept the 5 and added Salt and  Sulphur with
the
qualities of stability, combustibility, and I think mercury was
volatility...

Many cultures had similar 5 with ether varients.
Ancient Taoists also had 5 elements but they were earth, fire, water,
met
al
and wood.

 Swami Krishnananda 1990's
"Earth, water, fire, air, and ether - these elements constitute your
body
.
As long as the world of five elements continues to exist, you will be
existing. You will be existing as a miniature universe, a miniature
natur
e,
appearing to be moving independently, as it were, though such an
independence is not granted. Where is the independence?"

I was bored and asked a question about
your statement. I usually don't even read non-Laker related posts
here, but I was really, really bored. I have no agenda, no dog in the
fight. I've had a few nyms over the past several years, including this
one. I don't think that I've posted here since the Bandito days.

Thank you for your reply, Laurel. It was very informative. As I look
upthread I realise that I attributed Wolner's original comment to
VicXnews, which was an error on my part. No harm intended, hopefully
no foul.
