Re: Evaluating the Pistons

How about maybe they aren't such a great team after all -- and are

East than the C*****s... I still question what people saw in the
Pistons that made them think that.

I was HOPING more than anything else.

Darn tootin', the Pistons are overrated. They've gotten a lot
of mileage and respect out of being in the ECF six straight
years,

They have overachieved in my book but should get a lot of credit and
respect for that instead of a overrated label.
Not their fault they are over hyped, thay are what they are.

Look what they have done without one superstar and a poor bench until this
year and changing coaches 3 times.
Six ECFs, 2 finals, a championship and took the spurs to a game 7.
They beat Miami with Shaq, a to be championship team with 2 or 3 future HOF
players that year.
The only series that they lost when they were the better team was the cavs
last year and there is that superstar effect.

There is not a long list for championships won by teams with only one likely
future
HOF player and only a handful of those had none... counting the pistons 2004
win. Seattle '78 Dennis Johnson , Philly Warriors with Paul Arizin and Neil
Johnston...Alson can list any others for me... =)
While even teams with two HOF players have come up short like the 90s
Jazz...

and catching a gift championship when it fell into their
arms.

That the highly favored lakers with a healthy Shaq and Kobe ran out of gas
and their role players failed does not make it a 'gift' any more than the
spurs problems this year make the wcf a gift for the lakers. Pistons in that
series were just the better team and that was the year the pistons had that
level of coaching.
