amazing how lebron is now the supposed best player in the game
while piling up numbers against leastern conference teams...
If I had a vote I would go with Kobe so this is not an argument for
James, but here are LBJs #s against the west top 10 teams and I
doubt they would stop anyone from voting for him Dal 17 6.5 5.5
Den 28.5 3 3.5
GSW 25.5 9 8.5
HOU 29 10 8.5
LAL 37 9.5 4.5
NOH 21 5 6
PHO 31 6 6.5
SAS 33 7.5 8
UTA 36 12.5 11
POR 37 12 14
no 50's and 40's up there like kobe...
Kobe has averaged +30 against 4 of those teams. He averaged 46pts in 2
games against Dallas. That is the only west team +40. The only
east team Toronto also at 46. The only team LBJ has averaged +40 is the
NYKs
But then Kobe has not averaged 10 assists against any team and only
10 Rbs against one team. Not that this is a stats driven vote anyway..
nor am I arguing that
LBJs playing in the weaker conference should not be taken into
consideration on his overall stats
i am...
Stat wise LBJ wins this season no matter how you crunch them IMO.
Kobe's stats are not as gaudy as in the past couple of seasons but that is
because he is better overall and playing more to the team this year than in
the last couple of years. Defensive stats just do not jack up PER and Tendex
like the offense stats do. He has "been there done that" now on the
scoring title at the sacrafice of his energy on defense. Now he has put his
mind set on making everyone on the floor better at the sacrafice of numbers
and balancing his effort on both ends. They should reward his being very
unselfish this year and last time he played this unselfish instread of
trying to carry the team he had to split votes with Shaq. .
I do not know if the voters will see that and reward it with the noted
politics problem.
It may take a year when he is so much better they would be embarrassed to
vote elsewhere.
If some do not want to vote for him for past slights there are a couple of
players they can rationalize into first and even make a decent case.
On the other hand when it comes to politics some may decide LBJ will be
around a long time and they need to vote for Kobe while he is still at his
peak.
