Miami ain't what it used to be.

And oh yeah, there is the lowest level of actual hurricane activity in
three decades. As was expected, given the unusually cool ocean temps
last year and this, but interesting nonetheless given the silly
"global warming is causing hurricane disasters!" propaganda of 2005.
I'm sure those who were pushing that line will be retracting any day
now...maybe "theBZA" can start one of his counts.

Um, low hurricane activity in the US. It's truly amusing that you posted
this *after* I posted about Brit Hume's "expose'" last night on Fox.
Like I said elsewhere, if it ain't happening in the US, then it doesn't
exist. Unless it's WMDs. You do know that Noel just trashed Hispaniola
and Cuba? Noel. That's an N. Three beyond Katrina. But don't let reality
intrude on your little fantasy. I don't expect a response from you. If I
had a list of your dodges, it would be novel length by now.

Another thing is that there are cycles of hurricane season activity.
Right now, we're in a period that is favorable for the formation of a
higher number of storms, but it doesn't mean that each year will
produce high numbers. In 2006, there were 10 storms, 5 which became
hurricanes. This year there's 14 storms and 4 became hurricanes. As
far as Gary's "there is the lowest level of actual hurricane activity
in three decades" comment, that depends on how you look at it. When
Hurricane Felix reached category 5, this year became 1 of only 4
Atlantic seasons in recorded history that have had more than one
category 5 storm. So while it may not have been as active due to many
conditions, it was certainly more severe.
