I got a Canon Powershot SD700 IS for Christmas last year & have been
really
happy with it. It's a great camera for me as I'm into something that
fits
into a pocket easily while still producing quality pics. It's a 6
megapixel
with a decent zoom & it also takes 30-60 second videos with decent
quality &
sound.

It's not a high end SLR by any means, but for me it works very well.
Canon
has several other models out now in the same general bracket with some
improvements, but I'm happy enough to stick with it for the forseeable
future.

Here's a Cnet review in case you're interested:

I have the Canon SD750. Nice little camera, but it has some
convenience quirks -- for example, no battery power meter;
you have to take the battery out of the camera to charge it;
and the USB port has this cover you have to pry open to use.
Picture quality is excellent, and colors are very natural
and close to reality.

The 700 has a Li-Ion battery that lasts an incredibly long time, although it
does have to be removed from the camera to be charged. I also got a 2GB
memory card which means I can take a ton of pictures without worrying about
running out of room.

The USB cover is a little tweaky, but it isn't that bad & the download speed
to transfer pics to PC is really quick, another big plus for me after using
a Nikon Coolpix 990 for the last 6-7 years.

It's funny, I talked to a lot of people, and did a lot of
online research, including dpreview.com. In terms of
manufacturer, in first place is Canon, and it's a hell of
a long way back to whoever is in second place.

Their download software is also easy to use & doesn't include a bunch of
bloatware. It's not in Laurel's league, but then neither are my
photographic skills so it's a perfect fit for me.
