OK - I don't advocate trading Kobe, if only from the standpoint
of how ridiculous is would be for a franchise to trade *2* all time
greats in the span of 3 years. That said, I have a question, both for
salary cap guru's and general fan base
The general consensus is that there is no way to get equal value
(players) in return for Kobe. So, my question is this:
Would it be possible, and what would people feel about, taking back nothing but expiring contracts for Kobe?
Take his 20+ million of the books for equal monetary value in expiring
k's. Next year, Kwame's 9+ mil comes off as well. Perhaps around the trade deadline, Cook goes for another expiring k. Leaving Odom,
VladRad's deal and possible Luke resigning as the only sizeable
contracts, and Bynum, Farmar and Crittendon on rookie deals.
The team would flat out suck for the year, and be lucky to win 20
games most likely, but seems we would have a *lot* of cap space for the next offseason to improve the team.
Is that feasible and curious how most fans would view the idea.
Stupid idea, unless the lottery is chock full of stars that offseason.
Cap space would be essentially useless - what FA's would want to come
to the Lakers then???
