Why do you only name two issues?
As for climate change, the only ones that have been proven
wrong
about that issue so far are the environmentalist on the far-left.
In other words, you. It was people like you that, just 30 years
ago, were predicting that we were all doomed because of Global
Cooling. Remember
I remember "people like" Bryan worrying about the hole in the ozone.
I remember the government banning chlorofluorocarbons. I remember
loopy right-wingers wailing that the economy would fail. What
happened? Economy did not fail, entrepeneurs found a new niche and
made lots of money and the hole in the ozone stopped growing and has
actually shrunk a bit the last few years. Addressing climate change
is an opportunity for forward looking people. That leaves out
republicans who only look backward.

cite loopy wingnuts and deliberately hide their identity that just shows
what a looper you are.
The ozone hole that appeared over Antarctica and caused all the panicThe hole in the ozone over the Antarctic has indeed existed for decades
is a natural and annual phenomena. The annual ozone hole was first
measured in 1956-57, long before the ozone-destroying CFCs were in
common use. The hole appears at the end of the dark, cold Antarctic
winter, lasts about three to five weeks, and then disappears. There is
no overall or permanent depletion of the ozone layer.
if not longer (although we know the Universe is really only 15 minutes
old). And it does indeed vary in size over the course of the year.
However, measurements taken annually - at that same time each year -
show that it was growing quite quickly from the late 60s into the 70s. A
few years after the cessation of CFC usage, the hole stabilized and then
shrunk for a time. However, continued spewing of pollutants has not only
caused the hole to grow again (last September it was the largest ever
measured) but entire layers of Ozone have been completely destroyed.
According to NASA and NOAA there is virtually no ozone between 8 and 13
miles above the surface of the planet. The chief culprit remains
chlorine. Here is some info from NASA:
"As a result of the Montreal Protocol and its amendments, the
concentrations of ozone-depleting substances in the lower atmosphere
(troposphere) peaked around 1995 and are decreasing in both the
troposphere and stratosphere. It is estimated these gases reached peak
levels in the Antarctica stratosphere in 2001. However, these
ozone-depleting substances typically have very long lifetimes in the
atmosphere (more than 40 years).
"As a result of this slow decline, the ozone hole is estimated to
annually very slowly decrease in area by about 0.1 to 0.2 percent for
the next five to 10 years. This slow decrease is masked by large
year-to-year variations caused by Antarctic stratosphere weather
fluctuations."
