Re: Field goal % is NOT important? kobe says...

you can't trick me with your bogus stats.

here is the TRUTH:

standard 3-p line:

arc: 23.75
left corner: 22
right corner: 22

so overall average: 22.58

During the 1994¡V95, 1995¡V96, and 1996-97 seasons, the NBA attempted to
address decreased scoring (due to tougher style defenses) by shortening the
overall distance of the line to a uniform 22 feet (6.7 m) around the basket.

Notice the word "uniform". corners are just as long as the arc.

arc: 22
corners: 22 // 22

overall: 22

overall difference of 0.58, not even 1 foot.

and your example of Jordan's 3p% going down the following year is stupid,
Jordan had MVP-like years from 96 and 97.
but he really aged in 98' , his last year as a bull, he was what? 36 or 37?
NOT ONLY did his 3p% dropped, but also his FG%, FT%, and overall stats.

Barely?
1 foot 9 inches 1.75 feet... is closer to 2 feet than 1 foot.... I thought
you like to round up? MJs % jumped 10 points for the obvious impact of the
short arc...

MJ
career 3 Pt % was .327 ( 581-1778)
Regular line .294 (359-1221)
Short line 31% of the attempts .400 (223-557)

Kobe
Career .337 (931-2759)
Regular line .334 (880-2643)
Short line 5 % of the attempts .375 ( 51- 136)

last time you round-up kobe's 45.2% to 46%
so I guess you think 45.2 is closer to 46% than to 45%

That was.. as I said before... in answer to "Kobe IS shooting" which
seemed to refer to this season... for which he is .459.
