for those who dont know, the obvious answer is kwame...
cant wait to see the foul machine lovers speak up for
their boy who guard anybody to save his life chime in on
this...
kwame = potential to get even better
mihm = youve seen all he has got
Mihm is a good, but never will be great, big man
in a very watered down league. Kwame for all his
fumbling and lack of polish, has physical gifts that
Mihm and most big men cannot touch. First off, is
his physical size: 7 ft., 270+ lbs. of muscle with a
great base.
You can stop right there, because that's the only thing Kwame has that doesn't need major work
from its present status.
but what he has worked on so far he has improved on, right???
lol... being the kwame hater you are you will say no...
Second, his quickness: both lateral and
directional foot speed cannot be matched by any
player of like size and mass.
Now all he needs is a clue of which way to go. He seems to be going in twenty different
directions at once. In short, what he's displayed wasn't "quick" so much as "hurried".
exactly, once he gets to the point that he can play relaxed he will be
even better, glad to see you figured something out on your own... :-)
His forte right now is guarding elite bigs mano a mano.
Read: Yao and Shaq.
and duncan... and what do you know, other people have a hard
time guarding him as well... as you say, he is his own worst
enemy, once we solve that he will be okay...
but what about the brittle mihm, who can he guard???
you would think if you squinted you were watching travis knight
the way he piles up the fouls...
Mihm simply cannot
do that without getting into foul trouble. Mihm does
not have the quickness either, to play effective small
ball defense. He would've quickly racked up fouls
going against the likes of Diaw.
Despite evidence to the contrary. This is not what has gotten Mihm into foul trouble. It has
been trying too hard to deny post position instead of allowing some space to then use his hops
to block shots on his own man. Even at that, most of us were agreeing earlier in the season
that Mihm just needs to get more respect from the officials on those post situations.
and to stop fouling...
Players who give Mihm space haven't given him problems. Kwame didn't guard the perimeter all
that well, either.
yet he did it far better than mihm ever will be able to do it... i guess you
could picture mihm guarding nash at the arc...
On the other hand,
his offense is much better than Kwame's. And perhaps
Mihm could've had some success there against the Suns.
But I don't think he would've been able to stay on the
floor.
Without a big post player in there to demand deep position, I think Mihm would have been able to
stay on the floor for 30+ minutes a game.
how so with him having to run to the arc and back to the lane once
or twice per possession... he isnt that atheletic... never has been, never
will be...
As far as passing skills, I actually think Kwame
has better passing instincts than Mihm. He showed me
more than I expected as a passer in his triangle rookie
year.
I've seen Chris make a nice pass or two, as well, but I wouldn't call either him or Kwame
particularly adept in that area.
Another thing to note is that defensively Kwame is
an immovable mass in the middle.
Yeah, back to item one. I agree.
you mean the only item that you can see... you obviously
didnt see kwame improve during the last quarter of the
season... either that or its just more fun to bash him...
but you like many others had to eat a bit of crow...
you know, like we wouldnt make the playoffs because
mihm got hurt, yet the team started playing better when
kwame became center... yeah, you just forgot about that...
If you have a player
who can establish pivot position defensively and who
cannot be rooted out, it changes everything. It allows
your defense to move around this "wall" and effectively
makes the court much smaller. This is what Shaq has
always brought to the table and even now he makes
Miami's defense much better by simply eating up defensive
space. Mihm could never provide that.
Edge to Kwame in the "stand there and don't be moved" department, but Mihm is not that bad
there, either. He makes up for the difference by actually helping his teammates and blocking or
challenging shots.
mihm is not bad there, lol... he is a feather...
Any arguments that have been made here (Mario, in particular),
about the reason the Lakers will keep Kwame over Mihm
because of contract issues are absurd. It has nothing to do
with it. Quite simply, Kwame, warts and all, has much more
to offer the Lakers than Mihm does.
..... *potentially*.....
werx fer me...
