In my life, I've only heard the term "cali" used to refer to California in
the basketball newsgroups. Are other states referred to this way? Is it
common for people from outside the state to refer to California as "cali"?
I never heard that from anyone I've spoken to from California. Just
curious.
I used to hear it a few times after LL Cool J, but it was never really
common in everyday speech. Mostly SoCal and NoCal; otherwise, for the
whole state, I usually heard the whole name.
