After the US Congress voted to extend DST, at least the Japanese got this
part right. Amateur astronomers hate DST:

In my own opinion, DST sucks and should be abolished everywhere, forever.
One of the lamest excuses for it has been that energy savings on street
lights would come from more DST, but, unless a lot of places are behind the
times, street lights come on and go off according to the ambient brightness,
not on a manual or timed switch.
Screw DST!!!!!
