You do realize how silly this is, don't you? You really think Cairo

It seems silly on the surface but I stand by my assertion that Torre
does not know how to win with a team of boppers and with Giambi in the
lineup it takes him away from small ball - which is the formula he has
had the most success. Are you going to argue with facts (I gave you
the statistics which in your opinion are facts)

Oh crap. You are that same blithering idiot? No use even trying to rationalize with you. Forgive my intrusion. Go on with your fantasy world. I will be more careful in the future.

Cairo seldom gave himself up on purpose. He was simply not very good.
When a lousy hitter grounds out and moves the runner, it usually means
he just didn't hit the ball very well. I will never understand why
people value such things.

That's bull***. Cairo knew how to hit behind the runner better than
any player on the current team and he's been crucified for it. He
plays winning baseball and that's more than I can say for Robbie Cano
who I've yet to see give up an at-bat for the good of the team. He'd
rather hit into a double play.

Oh, so you realize giving yourself up is a dumb move.

no, I'm not saying that, you are putting words in my mouth. All I'm
saying is that it's a lot hard to take the bat out of the hands of an
All-Star than it is to take the bat out of the hands of an average/
below average player. Like it or not, teams need guys like that in the
lineup.

Then why do you
You are saying you

would rather have Cairo than Giambi. Are you saying Giambi is not as
good a hitter as Damon or Cabrera?

For this team and this manager, yes. Take away Matsui, Abreu and Arod
and maybe there is more of a need for a player with Giambi's talents
but a good team needs variety. The kind of pitcher that can get Arod,
Matsui and Abreu out will also get Giambi out. When that happens small
ball is the only chance at victory.

Cairo did NOT give himself up on purpose. He is a lousy hitter. He
makes a lot of outs. Some of them will naturally move runners over.
And most often Jeter bunting is dumb.

You call Jeter's bunting dumb but then you ignore all the base hits
and doubles he gets because the 3rd basemen around the league can't
cheat on him and play back on the grass. You are watching this game
with blinders on.
