Maybe the Yanks really do view this as a sunk cost and figure they
send him down, try to straighten him out and see if he can be worth
more next year.
I am so fed up with him that I would probably trade him for some old
Jack Murphy Stadium dirt. But I guess I can see some reasoning why
they wouldn't want to deal him; he's a $4M a year guy at this point;
the posting fee is gone, so it's all about four more years at $4M
per. The Yankees can afford that investment, even if it DID mean
spending 2008 in the minors to see if they can come up with
something. And perhaps the stuff that was being offered for him was
stuff that wasn't any more projectable then Igawa may be.
